Abstract, line 23: “larger isotopic variability”: please be more specific: this does not refer to spatial or seasonal variability, but variability/differences in d13C between different C pools.
Section 2.4.4, line 215: compositionss  compositions (or: composition)
Section 3 (and elsewhere): I would suggest using a consitent number of decimals for each paramter, e.g. “DIC ranged from 0.052 to 4.6 mmol L-1”: 0.052 to 4.6XX mmol L-1, etc.
Line 269: the d13C isotopic range: the d13C range
Throughout the manuscript (mainly in Discussion): please go through the text and make sure to use the correct terminology regarding enriched/depleted.
- “depleted” or “enriched” should always be specific, i.e. depleted in 13C, enriched in 13C. In some cases, you can avoid this by replacing it with “higher” or “lower”, e.g. instead of writing that “d13C of XYZ was depleted compared to …”, a more correct statement would be “XYZ was depleted in 13C compared to …”, or “d13C of XXX was lower than … “
