Short summary
Solubility of the micronutrient, iron, was measured in Arctic aerosols collected during the GEOTRACES GN01 section (summer 2015). Solubility is compared across three different methods and used to estimate the atmospheric input of bioavailable iron to the Arctic Ocean. Variations in solubility are described in terms of air mass characteristics. Combining this dataset with winter/spring aerosol iron data from another project, we assess the seasonality of aerosol iron solubility in the Arctic.
