Short summary
We collected sea ice and identified factors affecting the particulate organic carbon and nitrogen content and stable isotope ratios. The results suggested nutrient and organic matter influenced the isotope compositions in sea ice. Using the hydrography and sea-ice data, we estimated the particulate organic carbon supply from sea ice. This supply was equivalent to 14.7 % of phytoplankton production near ice edge, highlighting the importance of sea-ice derived materials for Antarctic ecosystems.
