While reading the manuscript I identified some technical corrections that you might consider (or not):
• Line 5: I am missing indirect via the environment. For instance OA induced dissolution of lower non-growing parts of cold-water corals.
• Line 44: idem ditto. Indirect effects via environment are another.
• Line 58: ... and an insight ….
• Line 72: … than two decades, have led to…. (otherwise grammar is not right).
• Line 120: … in the area inside and outside…
• Line 154: pore-water flow (all through the text check whether you hyphen multiple word adjectives)
• Line 272: near-shore
• Line 289/290: low-level…. high-level…
• Line 315: …. responses. On the other hand (because on the one and on the other hand always go together).
• Line 434: add space after Smith and Key reference
• Line 494: perhaps instructive to rewrite to better reflect the trade-off between simulating natural high flows and assuring mixing of CO2 rich water.

• Line 580: corals, I presume you mean tropical and cold-water corals.

• Line 624: sedimentary geochemists and benthic ecologists using benthic chamber at the seafloor in low-oxygen settings have used methodology to maintain oxygen levels using a so-called gill system and alike. These are meters long silicon tubings that are gas permeable that allow gas exchange. There is useful experience in that community.
• Line 673: I suggest deleting “No financial…”. This applies to many scientific issues.
• Line 865: Middelburg, J.J.
• Table 2, right column, middle: unequal (not uneqal).
